The Pancake Monster

My first dream post is actually a dream I first experienced when I was about 10 years old. I say “first experienced” because I have had this dream several times. The first experience was terrifying. The subsequent experiences became more and more humorous as I grew older. However, the dream never changes.
My family was responsible for containing the Pancake Monster. It was held in our basement in a containment device much like the “storage facility” in Ghostbusters. Our house was an old, Victorian style, sitting on a wooded lot in some historic town. Real turn of the century stuff sitting on a side street in Anywhere, USA, in the late ’80s.
The containment device failed. My parents rushed my brother, sister, and I into one of those old, wood panel station wagons. We sped through town and onto the highway. We had to get to the desert. As we reached the desert highway, my brother and I watched out of the rear window. We could see the monster on the horizon. It was chasing the long line of cars rushing for safety. The Pancake Monster looked like Jabba the Hutt’s pet rancor from Return of the Jedi. However, not how it appeared on screen but rather how the toy looked. The Pancake Monster’s skin seemed to drip off of its body like pancake batter. It stood on its hind legs, hunched over, and bounding down the highway chasing the survivors. Our only chance was to reach the shuttle launch pad in the middle of the desert. We had to leave Earth.
