Austin is 7 Weeks Old…Time for an Update

Posted on by Laura (The Mama)

Austin is now 7 weeks old! That makes him almost a whole 2 months now! He is due for a check-up during the first week of June and we can’t wait to see how much he has grown! At his 1 month appointment he weighed in at 11lb. 6oz. and he was 23.25″ long! That’s almost 2 feet!!! (at birth he was 9lb. and 20.5″) I am sure that even by now he is well over 12lbs. He has officially outgrown most of his newborn clothes and is now moving into the 0-3 month clothes.
At his 1 month doctor visit he was laying on his tummy and pushing up using his arms and pulling his legs off of the table. The doctor said that he shouldn’t really be able to do that until 3 or 4 months! Austin loves his tummy time at home, so he gets lots of practice.
Speaking of tummy time…on Friday May 16th (that’s 6 weeks 5 days old) he rolled over from his tummy to his back…all by himself!!! We were in the media room getting ready to watch the truck race on the big screen (which Austin likes to watch) and I had layed him on his blanket on the floor on his tummy. Eric was watching him and as I turned around to organize his “stuff” he rolled over!! Eric said, “Oh my God! He just rolled over!” I was sorry I missed it and we have been trying to get him to do it again ever since. No luck yet though, but I am pretty sure that I will get a chance to see it again very soon!
He is up to 6oz of formula at each feeding! Our growing boy is a big eater just like his parents! He is also pretty much sleeping through the night now. He has is bedtime bottle between 8 and 9pm and goes to his crib between 9 and 10pm. He wakes up between 3 and 5am for a feeding and then it is back to sleep until 7 or 8am! I would have to say that that is pretty good for 7 weeks! I can say that Eric and I are feeling much better now that we are getting more than 2 hours of sleep in between night time feedings. I just hope that he stays pretty close to this routine as he grows and changes.
We are very thankful to have what seems to be a very “easy” baby. I have heard all kinds of horror stories, but Eric and I have been taking things as they come. So far things have been great! The labor and delivery part is the only thing that stands out in my mind that could have gone better. We are grateful that we have Austin and we love him dearly! We can’t wait to see all the things that are to come!!
